I started playing soccer as a young child. I grew up playing in my hometown’s minor soccer league. During that time, I’m proud to say that one of my biggest accolades was my “Player of the Year” trophy. This was a pretty big deal at the time, and still sits on my dresser in my parents house.
Since that time I’ve played Challenge Cup soccer (one season with Marystown), Intermediate soccer in St. John’s, and for the past few years I’ve played with the Nepean Hotspurs in Ottawa. We played in Men’s Recreational Division 1 for the first time in Summer 2012; however, we had an unlucky season and have been relegated to Division 2.
It looks like I will no longer be playing for the Nepean Hotspurs. I’ve decided to take a break from the competitive leagues this summer, in hopes of finding a more relaxed league. Also, now that I’ve started my Master’s program at Memorial University, I’m not sure that I will have as much time to commit to the team.
